However, heavyweight prospect Jake Harrison, 19,A made no mistake as he continued his recent good form to take a clear decision in Chesterfield.
Jake faced Hucknall heavyweight Jack Allen, 19,A of the St George Club, on Bolsover Boxing Academy's promotion at Holmewood Miners Welfare.
The two big men moved well for their size and produced some quality action with Jake cutting down the elusive Notts boxer to land some quality combinations.
Allen preferred to move around the ring and counter punch but the strength and extra power of the Trinity man kept him in control.

In the final round, Jake began to dominate and Allen started to hold on, bringing a referee's warning and a two-point deduction as he attempted to stop Jake working.
Jake though still had plenty left and forced a standing eight count as he piled on the pressure.
The Trinity star took a unanimous decision.
Welterweight Nathan Hill continued his preparation for this year's ABA championships when he faced last year's quarter-finalist and British-ranked number six Darryl Baptist, of Lincoln.
The pair produced a classic to delight the local fans but Nathan, 19,A was unlucky to end up on the wrong end of a split decision. The taller Baptist worked on the counter early on but his punches fell short as he tried to find his range.
Nathan used good lateral movement as he cut the target down but still had to take a few Thomas sabo charms shots as heA drove Baptist back to land his own stinging combinations. The final round of this-bill topper over the 3x3 minute round championship distance was an absolute classic as both lads dug deep.
Nathan knew he had to keep with the pace and forced Baptist to the ropes, hurting with thudding body punches. A lesser man would have gone down but Baptist fought back off the ropes, showing his champion's pedigree. But again Nathan forced him back and unloaded a vicious barrage of punches.
At the final bell both lads showed respect as the crowd gave them a standing ovation.
Light welterweight Connor Pritchett, 17, and middleweight Alex Reed, 22,A both met local oppositionA on the Wodensborough Boxing Club promotion at the Tipton Sports Academy, in Birmingham and gave creditable performances in close contests.
Connor faced home club favourite Richard Nightingale in a return match from the last Trinity show, which Connor won in style.
On this occasion there was little between them as both got through with good punches in an even contest, but the local lad got the vote.
Alex faced Tommy Bowen of the Black Country Boxing Club and always had the edge in power, but links of london the local man worked hard behind a crisp jab and put his punches together well in the last round to take a deserved decision.A
Trinity coach Scott Rafferty said "All the lads performed, and their effort gives the club great credit. They all produced quality boxing and helped to make a success of the tournaments they boxed on.
"There is great development within the club, the performance improves, quality improves, so the spectacle of the event improves."
Nathan Hill starts on the championship trail this week with the Derbyshire ABA Senior Championships, in Chesterfield,A he will be joined by Reece Godfrey- Sharp as the junior event also starts at the Queens Leisure Centre.A

Protect Your Ideas With Copyrights and Patents

April 23, 2010 Views
Comments 0
By:Tim Knox

Q: Can you tell me the difference between a copyright and a patent? Also is that something I should let a lawyer handle for me?
A: A wise man once said, "The biggest difference between a copyright and a patent is the number of lawyers it takes to do the paperwork" There is a point to be made there, mainly that if this wise man had paid his attorney to copyright that tidbit of wisdom I probably would have had to pay him five bucks to use the quote
Copyrights, trademarks and patents are similar in that they are designed by law to protect your rights of ownership, but that's where the similarity ends A copyright protects a creative work; a trademark protects a brand or company identity; and a patent protects an invention or process
A copyright protects the rights of anyone who creates an "original work of authorship" A copyright owner has the exclusive right to reproduce the work; prepare spin-off works based on the copyrighted work; and to sell, perform and/or display the copyrighted work in public
Copyright protection is afforded to eight categories of creative works: literary works (the written word); musical works (lyrics, music, melodies); dramatic works (plays, scripts, screenplays); artistic works (pictorial and sculptural), sound recordings (LPs, CDs, audio tapes); choreographic works (dance, pantomime); audiovisual works; and architectural works (blueprints, designs, renderings)
An original work is automatically copyrighted the moment it is put into a fixed format such as a paper copy or recording In other words, once you put your original story in writing or make a recording of an original song, your copyright is automatically secured From that moment on your work has copyright protection for your lifetime, plus 50 years after your death
Registering a work with the US Copyright Office is not required, but since it is relatively simple and inexpensive to do so, I advise that you register a copyright for each work you wish to protect Also, your copyright must be registered in order to take legal action against someone who might infringe on the copyright in the future
You can register a copyright without the assistance of an attorney Simply visit the US Copyright office website at http://lcweblocgov/copyright/ and download the appropriate form Complete the form and send it in with a $30 nonrefundable filing fee Replica Soccer Jersey. This must be done for each individual work you wish to protect
A patent is a form of protection granted to an inventor that protects his invention in the United States for up to 20 years from the date of application Patent law states that, "whoever invents or discovers any new and useful process, machine, manufacture, composition of matter, or any new and useful improvements thereof may obtain a patent" Owning a patent gives you the legal right to stop someone else from making, using or selling your invention (or one that's very close to it) without your permission However, proving that someone is infringing on your patent is often difficult and usually requires a trial to settle the dispute
Since the first US patent was awarded in 1790, more than five million patents have been awarded The patent office receives more than 230,000 patent applications every year and I can tell you from personal experience that a turtle on Prozac moves faster than the patent process Patents can take several years, truckloads of paperwork, and considerable legal fees to obtain The cost of obtaining a patent can run from $500 for a simple design patent to $50,000 and more for a complex utility patent However, if your company has a truly patentable idea, you would be wise to invest the time and money required to secure your rights A good patent can be a valuable business asset Replica Watches.
While you can file a patent yourself, I strongly advise that you use an attorney since a naively written patent application often isn't worth the paper it's printed on Just recently my attorney did a patent search for me only to discover that a patent for a similar product was already in place However, due to the ineffectual language of the patent application, the patent was practically impossible for the owner to enforce
Good news for me Not so good news for the wise man who wrote his own patent
Here's to your success!

Where the Clients Are

April 21, 2010 Views
Comments 0
By:CJ Hayden

A friend of mine is an IT consultant He's been an independent contractor for the 20-plus years I have known him, and gets all his consulting contracts through agencies Even when he works a year or two for the same client, the agency takes 15-20% of what the client is paying for his services I once asked him why he didn't find his own clients, and he said he didn't know where to look

I was puzzled by this answer After more than 20 years in the business, you would think he knew who his clients were But then I listened more closely He wasn't telling me he didn't know WHO they were; he was saying he didn't know WHERE they were

Since then, I've noticed this query come up over and over Wholesale Leather Handbags. Whenever an independent professional meets a successful person in his or her field, the professional inevitably asks, "Where do you find your clients?" It seems that where the clients are is a bit of a mystery

But in fact, clients are just people like you and me They do all the things that people normally do and can be found wherever people are Let's suppose for a moment that your clients are professionals or managers who work for a corporation Where are they at any given moment?

1 Working alone at their desk
2 Attending a meeting
3 Talking to someone in the office
4 Talking to someone on the phone
5 Corresponding with someone by email (or postal mail)
6 On the commuter bus or train
7 Fake Watch. At the gym
8 Eating a restaurant meal or getting coffee
9 Attending a business function
10 Taking a class
11 Participating in a sports or leisure activity
12 Going to church
13 Attending an entertainment or cultural event
14 At home with their family
15 At the home of a friend or relative
16 Driving somewhere

Look at how many possibilities this gives you to find them! Your prospective clients spend a significant percentage of their time either talking to other people or gathering in public places When they are not doing one of those things, they are usually at their home or office -- also places they can be "found" with a little detective work ghd hair straighteners.

When you look at it this way, finding clients really boils down to three possible activities:

1 Talking to people who can put you in touch with clients
2 Going to places where clients gather so you can meet them in person
3 Getting names, phone numbers, and email addresses of clients you can call or write

Start the process with a simple description of who your ideal clients are The more specific you can get, the better For example:

- HR Managers in growing midsize companies
- Marketing Directors for health care providers
- Small business owners in the Boston metro area
- Midlife professionals in career transition

Then use your description to ask everyone you know these three questions:

- Do you know any _____ you can introduce me to?
- Do you know someone who knows lots of _____?
- Do you know any places where many _____ go?

For many independent professionals, just that one step will provide you with enough names and places to keep you busy for quite some time Just keep talking to people and going to places where clients gather As long as you keep asking the same three questions of every person you meet, your prospect list will continue to grow

To expand your list even further and faster, you can look your clients up Business clients are listed in hundreds of directories, in print and on the web Consult the Yellow Pages, association membership lists, sites like http://wwwbusinesscom, or your favorite search engine

Individuals can be found in alumni directories, club rosters, and online communities Start with the groups you already belong to Although direct solicitation from these sources is not advisable, they are excellent for finding people to ask your three network-expanding questions

You don't even have to do the list-building work yourself If you want to reach your clients by mail and phone, you can purchase names of businesses or consumers from list brokers like http://wwwdunandbradstreetcom or http://wwwnamefinderscom

Finding clients is really a bit of a paradox They are everywhere, but you have to look in order to see them Don't be so overwhelmed by the forest that you forget to notice the trees

A-10 rivals eclipse Flyers on

April 21, 2010 Views

We reached the halfway point in the Atlantic 10 in men's basketball last weekend, and it's time to hand out our midseason awards.

catalog printing

Granted, your friendly correspondent hasn't seen all of the conference teams yet, but I certainly know more than I did when the league asked me to vote in its preseason poll, which means I shouldn't have to rely as much on the "eeny, meeny, miny moe" method of making picks.

Midseason player of the year: Xavier's Jordan Crawford. The sophomore guard started his career at Indiana, and he has the talent to star in any conference.

First team all-league: Crawford, Duquesne's Damian Saunders; Dayton's Chris Wright, Richmond's Kevin Anderson; Temple's Lavoy Allen. Tough calls leaving out St. Bonaventure's Andrew Nicholson, UMass' Ricky Harris and UD's Chris Johnson. The all-league second team could be just as potent as the first links of london unit.

Rookie of the year: Fordham's Chris Gaston. The mobile forward is third in the league in scoring (18.4) and second in rebounding (10.7). The Rams won't be a pushover much longer.

Coach of the year: Temple's Fran Dunphy. No one saw the Owls contending this season, and while he lacks a little in the charisma department, Dunphy can match X's and O's with the best.

Projected league winner: Xavier. The Musketeers are 8-2 in the A- 10, and I see only one more loss (either at Charlotte or at home to Richmond). That would give them a 13-3 record, but they may have some company at the top.
